Dental Bonding Collingwood, ON
At Collingwood Dental Centre, our Collingwood dentists use dental crowns to correct significant tooth damage and prevent further deterioration.
What is Dental Bonding?
During this non-invasive cosmetic procedure, your dentist applies tooth-coloured composite resin to your tooth to repair decayed, discoloured or damaged teeth. The material is then sculpted, hardened and polished to match the surrounding natural teeth.
Dental bonding can also be used to close gaps between teeth, to change their shape or colour, or make teeth appear longer. This also makes them look more symmetrical.
The Bonding Procedure
Typically, dental bonding requires only a single visit to your dentist's office and can usually be completed in 30 minutes to an hour per tooth.
To prepare your teeth for bonding, your dentist applies an etching solution to the tooth's surface. A composite resin is then applied to match the colour of your teeth. This resin is then molded into shape and hardened into place with a high-intensity curing light.
Benefits of Dental Bonding
Minor cosmetic dental issues such as discoloured, cracked or gapped teeth can be addressed with dental bonding.
After the procedure, your teeth will appear more natural, especially if the tooth being filled is visible when you smile.
Because the composite also strengthens your teeth, you can enjoy eating again without having to worry about applying too much pressure and breaking it again.
