- Improved confidence and self-esteem – dentures give you a straighter, whiter smile
- Improved speech
- Ability to enjoy eating foods that you might have avoided due to the loss of your teeth
- Prevents bone loss that occurs as a result of missing teeth
- Prevents existing teeth from shifting or moving
Exploring the Different Types of Dentures
Patient comfort is the number one priority at our denture clinic. That is why we offer several types of dentures. Providing our patients with various treatment options allows us to help you find the best, most comfortable dentures.
Some of the following types of dentures are examples of treatment options that are available at Collingwood Dental Centre.
Complete Dentures (Full Dentures)
Complete dentures, or full dentures as they are sometimes called, are a fully removable device made out of acrylic or porcelain that is used to replace all the teeth on both the upper and lower part of the mouth. Complete dentures rest gently on the top of your gums with the help of a combination of suction and adhesive gels or strips.
Partial dentures are used when you need to only replace a few missing teeth. With partial dentures, acrylic or porcelain teeth are used to fill in any gaps or spaces created by your missing natural. A small clip on the back of partial dentures provides you with the ability to quickly and easily remove the dentures on an as-needed basis.
Implant-supported dentures are similar to complete dentures. However, instead of resting on the gum, implant-supported dentures are attached to dental implants. The use of dental implants, which is embedded into the bone of your jaw, for support prevents the dentures from slipping or moving when you are eating or speaking. Unlike partial or complete dentures that can be easily removed, implant-supported dentures can only be removed by a dentist.
